How to remove or replace LCD cable on Asus X501A
1. Before you start, make sure the Asus X501A laptop is shutdown and the battery removed.
2. Remove two screws securing the service cover on the bottom. Lift up and remove the cover.
3. Remove four screws securing the hard drive module to the laptop.
4. Lift up the black tape and slide the hard drive module to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard.
5. Remove one screw that securing the optical drive. Slide the drive to the left and pull it out of the Asus X501A laptop is shutdown and the battery removed.
2. Remove two screws securing the service cover on the bottom. Lift up and remove the cover.
3. Remove four screws securing the hard drive module to the laptop.
4. Lift up the black tape and slide the hard drive module to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard.
5. Remove one screw that securing the optical drive. Slide the drive to the left and pull it out of the Asus X501A laptop.
11. Using a tweezers remove the screw cover located in the lower left and right corner of the display. Remove the screw under the cover.
12. Insert a guitar pick or thin card between the display bezel and display back cover.
13. There are many small plastic latches holding the bezel and cover together. Move the bezel left to right, up and down until those latches disengaged.
14. Remove the display bezel from the display assembly.
15. Remove four screws securing the screen to the display cover.
16. Separate the LCD screen from the cover and place it on the keyboard.
17. Remove adhesive tape securing the video cable connector and unplug the cable.
