How to replace LCD cable on HP 721510-001

1. Turn off the HP 721510-001. Unlock and remove the battery.
2. Loosen the screw that secures the service cover to the laptop. Slide down the battery release latch to remove the service cover.
3. Disconnect the hard drive connector cable and remove four Phillips PM2.5*3.5 screws* that secure the hard drive. Lift up the black tape to disconnect the hard drive from the laptop.
4. Remove the Phillips PM2.5*3.5 screw that secures the optical drive. Use a small screwdriver to press on the optical drive bracket tab to release the optical drive. Pull it out of the optical drive bay.
5. Remove two Phillips PM2.5*10.0 screws that secure the keyboard to the HP 721510-001.
6. Place and secure the laptop on its right side. Insert a screwdriver into the keyboard release holes, and then press on the back of the keyboard until the keyboard lift from the palm rest assembly.
7. While pushing on the back, you will see the front side separated from the top cover a little bit. Insert your fingers under the keyboard.
8. Turn the keyboard upside down and place it on the palm rest. Lift up the white retaining tab and pull the cable out of the connector. Now you can remove the keyboard.
9. Remove ten Phillips PM2.5*10.0 screws that secure the top cover from the bottom case.
10. Remove three Phillips PM2.0*2.0 screws that secure the top cover (two screws in the optical drive bay, one screw next to the CMOS battery).
11. Turn the HP 721510-001 right side up and open the display. Pry the top cover with a guitar pick or thin card. Finally, remove the top cover assembly.
12. Disconnect the LCD cable from the motherboard.
13. Insert your fingers under the bezel on the top of the display. Wiggle the display bezel to separate it from the display back cover.
14. Separate the bezel on the top and bottom sides of the display assembly.
15. Remove the display bezel from the HP 210 G1.
16. Remove four Phillips PM2.0*2.0 screws that secure the LCD screen to the display assembly.
17. Separate the LCD screen from the display back cover and place it on the keyboard.
18. Remove the adhesive tape securing the LCD cable to the connector. Unplug the LCD cable.
