How to remove and replace keyboard on HP 809983-001

1. Shut down the laptop. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery.
2. Remove the Phillips PM2.5*7.0 screw that secures the optical drive. Slide it out of the optical drive bay.
3. Remove four Phillips PM2.5*12.0 screws that secure the hinge covers, and then lift the covers off the HP 809983-001.
4. Remove two screw covers from near the battery bay. Remove two Phillips PM2.0*2.0 flat screws from the optical drive bay.
5. Remove seventeen Phillips screws that secure the top cover to the laptop.
6. Separate the bottom cover from the rest of the laptop and turn it upside down on the table.
7. When the bottom cover was removed. Disconnect the hard drive cable and remove the hard drive from the HP 809983-001.
8. Disconnect the antenna cables and remove the screw. Take it away from its slot.
9. Disconnect the fan cable and remove two Phillips PM3.0*3.0 screws. Lift up and remove the fan.
10. Remove the six Phillips PM2.0*3.0 screws that secure the heatsink. Remove the heatsink from the motherboard.
11. Disconnect the clickpad cable, touchpad cable, hard drive cable, optical drive cable, keyboard cable, power connector cable, LCD cable, speaker cable and power button cable from the motherboard.
12. Remove four Phillips PM2.0*3.0 screws *that secure the motherboard to the HP 809983-001. Lift up and remove the motherboard.
13. Now you can access and remove the keyboard.
