How to replace cooling fan on HP Probook 470 G3

1. Turn off the HP Probook 470 G3. Unlock and remove the battery.
2. Loosen the screw that secures the service cover to the laptop.
3. Slide down the battery release latch to remove the service cover.
4. Disconnect the hard drive connector cable and remove four Phillips PM2.5*3.5 screws* that secure the hard drive.
5. Lift up the black tape to disconnect the hard drive from the laptop.
6. Remove the Phillips PM2.5*3.5 screw that secures the optical drive.
7. Use a small screwdriver to press on the optical drive bracket tab to release the optical drive. Pull it out of the optical drive bay.
8. Remove two Phillips PM2.5*10.0 screws that secure the keyboard to the HP Probook 470 G3.
9. Place and secure the laptop on its right side. Insert a screwdriver into the keyboard release holes, and then press on the back of the keyboard until the keyboard lift from the palm rest assembly.
10. While pushing on the back, you will see the front side separated from the top cover a little bit. Insert your fingers under the keyboard.
11. Turn the keyboard upside down and place it on the palm rest. Lift up the white retaining tab and pull the cable out of the connector. Now you can remove the keyboard.
12. Remove ten Phillips PM2.5*10.0 screws that secure the top cover from the bottom case.
13. Remove three Phillips PM2.0*2.0 screws that secure the top cover (two screws in the optical drive bay, one screw next to the CMOS battery).
14. Turn the laptop right side up and open the display.
15. Disconnect the power button cable, touchpad cable, fingerprint cable and right speaker cable from the motherboard.
16. Remove four Phillips PM2.5*5.0 screws that secure the top cover to the HP Probook 470 G3.
17. Start separating the top cover from the bottom case using a guitar pick or thin card. Insert it under the top cover and move slowly along the side to unlock hidden latches.
18. With the top cover was removed, disconnect the fan cable from the motherboard and remove the two Phillips PM2.5*5.0 screws that secure the fan.
19. Now you can remove the fan and replace it with a new cooling fan.
