Dell Inspiron 15 5570 Review

11

Dell has been a major player in the laptop manufacturing industry and if there is any company that truly understands the needs of consumers, Dell is one of them owing to its vast experience with users over the years. Dell has just introduced a new large-screen notebook with eight gen. Intel processor and it is powerful, portable, a productive tool and of course it gives an excellent audio and video entertainment. I’m talking about the Dell Inspiron 15 5570. In this review, we give a detailed analysis of the features of Dell Inspiron 15 5570 to ascertain if Dell lived up to its name with this product.

Design and Appearance

Dell Inspiron 15 5570 comes with a premium appearance and its smooth white color is quite matured. Although it is white, it is resistant to stain or print due to its smoothness thus it never gets dirty neither does it need cleaning. The time consuming anodizing aluminum process was used in molding its metal body giving it a smooth, delicate, protective and decorative finish. The metal build process of this laptop ensures that it is resistant to corrosion and abrasion thus its body cannot get rusted.

Traditionally, Dell usually leaves its “DELL” logo on the front fuselage of its entire product which gives it some sort of additional beauty and for recognition. For the Inspiron 15 5570, the logo is designed with gray color while at the back fuselage, there is the “Inspiron” crest for easy identification of the brand. As different from some other Inspiron brands that come with horizontal anti-slip pads, Inspiron 15 5570 sports four circular anti-slip pads located at the four corners of the base of this laptop. These pads are meant to slightly elevate the base of the laptop so as to create an allowance for heat to be dissipated via the air inlet at the base.

They also give the system balance and create a solid cohesion between the base of the laptop and the surface on which it is placed thus it cannot easily slip off the table. Talking about the cooling hole, it is horizontally arranged at the base of the laptop but not along the entire length as we have seen in other models.

15.6-inch Ultra-thin bezel Screen

Dell Inspiron 15 5570 uses a 15.6-inch large-screen anti-glare with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Regrettably, this laptop does not have an ultra-thin bezel design which is the latest display technology in the industry. The top and bottom bezels are thicker than the side frames because the top bezel contains the webcam while the bottom frame has the “DELL” logo.

We used the red spider 5 generation professional color instrument on the screen for specific color gamut test, the final test results show that Dell Inspiron 15 5570 screen covers 60% of the sRGB color gamut and 44% of Adobe RGB color gamut. From this, we can see that the screen is acceptable for daily image processing of this device.

Speakers

Similar to the Dell Inspiron 15 7570, the rear of this laptop has a group of speakers systematically arranged in order to maximize the sound effect. Apart from the systematic arrangement, these speakers use Wave Maxx Audio Pro technology which delivers audited professional sounds with pure treble and vigorous bass which collectively gives an amazing sound experience.

Keyboard

The keyboard design is quite acceptable as the keycap gap is perfect and appropriate thus you don’t make the mistake of pressing two keys at a time while typing. The keys also trigger a swift rebound with rapid feedback thus you don’t experience the problem of entering a letter multiple times while typing. The keyboard comes with a full-size design and it’s suitable for a variety of keyboard input requirements.

I particularly love the position of the power button which is located on the far right above the keyboard. This is to prevent accidental touch as we have seen many current laptops with power button embedded in the keyboard which is not so acceptable.

The Dell Inspiron 15 5570 comes with a solid and precise matte design touchpad which is very delicate and delivers an excellent experience. Unfortunately, the keyboard of this laptop does not have backlit and this will make usage in lowlight environments less seamless.

Interface Configuration

The Dell Inspiron 15 5570 comes with numerous expansion interface to fully meet the needs of users. On the right fuselage, there is an SD card slot, d two USB 2.0 interfaces.

Most of the interfaces are concentrated on the left side which has the power connector, USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen 1) interface, HMDI interface, a network port, two USB 3.1 Type-A ports and a headset/microphone interface.

Portability

The thinness of this laptop is a plus for Dell. It is 19.9mm thick and packs a whole lot of ports despite its thinness.

For a large screen display, its thickness of less than 20mm makes it more portable to carry over long distances. Dell Inspiron 15 5570 has a net weight of 2.10kg and a travel weight of 2.44kg which is the expected weight of a 15.6-inch laptop.

SSD benchmark

AS SSD software was used in testing the SanDisk SATA  M.2 SSD. It achieved a final read speed of 469.67MB/S, and a continuous write speed of 305.97MB/S. On daily usage, the performance is good but it can use an upgrade if available.

Heat Dissipation

Most of the heat was concentrated on the central parts of the laptop while the sides regions accumulated very minimal temperature. On the rear, the maximum temperature was also concentrated in the central region and the rear region was relatively cool. This means that using this laptop on your lap for long periods is not recommended.

Battery Life

The Dell Inspiron 15 5570 uses a 42Wh built-in lithium polymer battery. To test the battery life, we used a power balanced mode, set the notebook brightness at 100%, volume at 20%, turned off all background software and initiated a continuous video playback on 1080P. After an hour, we had a total of 22% power consumption and this implies that a continuous playback of high-definition video on this notebook can reach 5 hours.

Disassembly

The disassembling of the rear cover of this notebook is quite easy but you need to pay attention to the screws near the LCD hinges. The SSD, RAM, HDD and wireless card is upgradeable.

Conclusion

The Dell Inspiron 5570 has numerous good sides, but it also has some shortcomings. This laptop can deliver excellent video and audio experience with its eighth generation processor. With this processor combined with the SSD, multitasking will be very rapid and seamless thus if you need to purchase a 15.6-inch notebook, the Dell Inspiron 5570 is one to consider.

Now, this computer is installed DELL new software DMC link (DELL Mobile Connect). The software seamlessly connects the phone to the PC through a wireless connection, enabling “dual-screen integration.” Users can always stay focused and experience the convenience of the keyboard. Through DMC software, Dell users can experience richer WeChat features on their PC and with DMC, users can receive any phone information on their PC, make and receive phone calls and even get Android APP notifications. Users can operate all APPs of Android mobile phone on the computer. The operation is not only fast and simple, and the visual experience is broad and comfortable. With Dell HDR technology, you can enjoy more stunning image quality while the Type – C interface gives you a richer interface and a cleaner desktop.

Nevertheless, the absence of backlighting on the keyboard is a setback to the operation of this laptop in the low light environment. Since the temperature is dissipated at the central portion of the rear of this laptop, it is not recommended using this device on your laps for long periods.

  1. I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 5570 laptop. I was somewhat disappointed with the relatively small SSD but could probably live with it. I noticed in the review that there is supposed to be a HHD installed but my computer seems to be missing this item. Could you please comment on this.

I liked your very comprehensive review. Very helpful.

    • Because your laptop doesn’t come with an HDD, so your laptop may not come with a HDD caddy. If you need to install an 2.5″ HDD, you need an HDD caddy. The hard drive needs to be installed on caddy and fixed in the hard drive bay.
Anyway you can open the back cover of the laptop to confirm it, if not, you can try to buy a caddy from Dell. Otherwise, you can only replace a larger capacity M.2 SSD.

  2. if u get the same inner space in your laptop….then whether its hhd or ssd ,doesnot matter.usually ssd small in size but might be equal to what they showed you

  3. Purchased my Dell Inspiron 5570 in April 2019 and already have to replace the motherboard as the battery stopped charging. Its show plugged in but not charging. I called Dell support and they sent me the box to return/send the Laptop to them to replace at no charge. Claimed in will take about 10 days – sending off tomorrow as I received the box today (9/17). I researched online – turns out this is a common issue. The anti-glare screen is not ideal for photo touch up work that I like to do with many of my photos. I like to watch movies on my laptop and speaker in just fine for this. The keyboard lights up when powering up the laptop, but wish there was a way to keep on during evening hours. Didn’t think this would be an issue, but it actually kind of was after the fact. The keyboard is good, turns on quick -overall I do like the Inspiron 5570 – I don’t have any other issues and complaints with the Dell Inspiron 5570.

  4. I have purchased it last May, from the first time I was disappointed in its screen that looks worse than the TVM traditional monitor, not even an LCD one. DELL claims that every system has its own specifications, but for sure nobody can imagine that in 2019 he will get a very poor screen. My old Laptop – Toshiba Satellite 2006 – has a screen and a built-in Intel VGA display adapter without any graphical accelerator but for some ambiguous reasons it has a very good screen image better than Dell 5570

  5. I need to replace my motherboard after 8 months. I don’t use this laptop daily and I do play The Sims on it and it’s usually low impact. I was playing it and it shut down and came back on with a sequence 3-3-3 and then 1–6–1 … clearly the motherboard. I don’t have they money to replace it and will not be purchasing a dell laptop again. I never had issue with my other laptops at all.

  6. I bought this laptop in November 2018,and the biggest problem I see is heat damage to slow down performance and never upgrade laptop with HDD caddy if you have M2 nvme slot and HDD slot ,very bad head management else a great laptop.
