Huawei Mate 9 Pro Teardown


Huawei Mate 9 Pro runs on EMUI 5.0 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. It sports a 5.5-inch QHD (1440×2560 pixels) curved AMOLED display – the biggest difference between the Mate 9 Pro and the Mate 9. The smartphone features a 2.5GHz octa-core Kirin 960 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM.
It comes with a dual-camera setup at the back with 20-megapixel monochrome lens and 12-megapixel RGB sensors with Leica lenses. The dual camera setup is tagged with dual-tone LED flash. The smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel front camera for taking selfies. The camera setup comes with optical image stabilization capability.

The smartphone packed a large 4000mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro offers options like GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The phone measures 152x75x7.5mm.

There is a metal stator on the volume button connector, and the screw is covered with fragile stickers, which means that if you want to disassemble by yourself, you will void the warranty.

It is still using the most common three-stage layout, the chips and the battery circuit covered with graphite stickers.

After removing the graphite sticker we can see, almost all BTB connection is covered with the metal stator.

The metal shield of the main chips is covered with thermal grease. The front camera is fixed on the fuselage with foam adhesive.

Huawei Mate 9 Pro also uses the second generation Leica dual cameras, the monochrome lens sensor upgrade to 20 million pixels, and the main camera joined the OIS optical image stabilization. To ensure that the camera position as much as possible does not change, in addition to using metal frame fixed the camera, But also the use of glue to be fixed.

Let’s look at the bottom of the fuselage. The bottom of the main FPC is also fixed by a metal stator.

Disconnect the main FPC and remove all screws securing the bottom board and speaker module.

The battery used non-trace glue to fix on the metal body. Pull out the white adhesive tape.
